Caller type: Scam
Location: Canada
Have had (778) 330-2272 call my business, they don't identify themselves, want me to provide them with information that is 14 yrs old on an account that was not past due and paid up in full. Told them I thought it was a scam and said goodbye. The RCMP and Consumer Affairs should look into this company, very questionable.

We have notified the RCMP about this agency - They keep calling for someone who is not at our number - They call 10 times a day, and we have asked them to STOP CALLING

They are now in the area of illegal harassment, and the RCMP are asking people to notify them about this company. More people, the better! Please contact your local RCMP department or online to file a complaint.

More people that file we can get them shut down and charged.

My friendly and sincere advice to you Justin, is if you wish to clear the debt, then just contact the original creditor, and ask them if they would be willing to accept payments to settle the debt.
Don't give a cent to the collection agency.  The more people refuse to pay collection agencies the sooner they will go out of business.  If people wouldn't pay collection agencies, there wouldn't be so many of them!  Anyone and their dog can set-up a collection agency business.

You could always tell them to sue you, or f**k off.  And then they either have to start litigation to sue you or they have to f**k off.  Once you play this cart, the collection agency is stuck with the debt, they can not pass-on the debt to another collection agency and they can no longer contact you by any method, because in doing so places them in Contempt of Court.  Judges do not like it when someone is in contempt of court, or when someone places someone else into contempt of court.  This makes judges very angry, and they usually dismiss the case.

If the original creditor doesn't want you to pay them, then wait for the collection agency to take you to court, and let the judge know the original creditor refused to settle.

People who work for collection agencies are usually ex-convicts, schoolyard bullies or women who can't get a date.

PER:  infoguyDATE: 10 May 2012Just so everyone knows, & this will-p****off the collection agents: by Federal Law, a collection agency has the power to "Ask You to pay your bill and offer assistance in setting up a payment schedule" That is all. 1) they are never allowed to call you at your place of employment for any reason.2) they can not, under any circumstances, harrass you into payment, by phone, mail or in person & they may not threaten you or your credit standing in any way.3) You do not have to deal with a collection agency at any time. You are only obligated to deal with the original creditor, even if the agency has bought the account from them. You do not have to deal with them. 4) a collection agency can not put negative information on your credit file.5) so in short... all they can do is "nicely" ask you to pay your bill. But we all know that they generally go way beyond that.If you are having a problem with an agency, call the consumer bureau and report them and if it is a serious harassment issue, or call at your place of employment, contact the police and file charges. These are federal laws that they must follow, but most offen do not and will push it to the limit. Yes, several collectors have been fired and / or charged under these laws. Some even jailed. Their employers usually get a fine & tell the authorities they never asked the employee to do that, thus leaving the employee on their own to take the blame. True sharks in every way.If you are having financial issues, & most people do at one point or another in their lives, call a credit counselling service in your area. They are a free service in every province and will assist you. Do not deal with collectors on your own. If you can not afford to pay, the service will understand & work with you, without any judgement toward you, and no credit bruising. The calls stop immediately.

These guys just don't stop... I was literally seeing a professional due to serious suicidal thoughts.  Hurt my back, had no insurance, basically went broke and still have not gone back to work from the surgery I was lucky enough to get in a speedy time.  My sickness benefits from the government run out before i am allowed back to work, and obviously stress is a large part of my life again.  Rent, car insurance, bills, how do I pay that.... Anyway long story short, it has been explained to them, and i went as far to say i will end my life over the phone if they keep calling me 6 times a day every single day.  They still haven't stopped!!  I'm lucky enough to have some family helping me and a someone to talk to about my suicidal thoughts, but I am sure there are ppl out there who don't have that support.  These people need to be stopped, and I need these calls stopped, no one is on the other end of the phone when i pick up now.  So i cant even yell at anyone on the other end.  I'm broke, stressed, and unable to change it at the moment.Un-needed stress!!
