I answered this call and I couldnt make out where he said he was calling from (even after asking 3 times) I coiuld only make out computer and internet, he asked if my computer as running slowly, then told me my computer was running slowly. I hung up.

The number will not stop calling its a fax number and it's driving me crazy

Answered after getting several calls from this number. I figured it might be someone I know. Since to me is a local number. The person on the other end began by asking me. "Is your computer a Windows or Apple computer?" Just to humor him I said Microsoft Vista. He said. "Thank you for confirming that information."  "I am calling on behalf of your internet provider."  "It seems your computer has many many viruses and spyware. Also your Windows registry is infected." It was at this point that I informed him that in fact my computer Linux as an operating system. He still continued. "Have you noticed, your computer runs slower than when it was new?" I answered. "No In fact it runs just as quickly today, as it did when I installed Linux."He replied. "You may not have noticed your computer slowing down but our records indicate your computer is 40% slower than when new." "Your problem is because your registry is infected, and your computer has viruses."I replied. "Linux has no registry and is virtually virus free".He tried to continue, before he could I wished him Merry Christmas and hung up.The callers apparently only have a script for Windows and Apple users.

Contacted Bell Canada and searched Canada411 reverse lookup... found out this number (905) 988-5265) is a telemarketing number used by Rogers Communications soliciting. The address is 5 Great Western St. in St.Catharines, Ontario. The number is "OUT OF SERVICE" if you try to call it back. I was instructed by Bell Canada to register on-line with CMA (Canadian Marketing and Associates)http://www.the-cma.org/  this will remove my name from about 90% of telemarketer's lists for about 3 years. That is what I'm going to do right now... you can register for no calls, e-mails or faxes... a great way for us to fight back!!

i dont get it im with cogeco phone service and i got a call from this number also and my number is unlisted im paying 2 dollars to have it unlisted where are these ppl getting my number from this just goes to show my number aint unlisted from everything like i was told it would be they are even calling my cellphone and thats with bell solo and this number has called my wifes cellphone and shes with rogers cellular why are these companies allowing this number to do this to us if we wanted a cellphone its not hard to just walk into telus or bell or rogers and get one and if my number is suppose to be unlisted like its suppose to be with cogeco how is it possible that this number has my unlisted number. NOW THIS NUMBER NEEDS TO LEAVE PPL LIKE US ALONE LIKE I SAID IF WE WANTED A CELLPHONE WITH ANY OF THESES COMPANIES IM SURE WED ALL WALK IN TO OUR LOCAL STORES AND GET ONE EITHER PREPAID OR MONTHLY WE DONT NEED A NUMBER TO GET IT FOR US .
