company keeps asking for Jessica somebody but they have the wrong phone number and I have already asked them to stop calling me.
Sample complaints we have found for (905) 671-4151
Fedup From Brampton
MJR seem to employ people with no manners and absolutely no listening skills.FOUR times I have written to them with documentation showing I owe absolutely nothing to the company that they are trying to collect from. I have provided a copy of their apology and the report from the BBB. Yet still they write and they call, oh boy do they call.Bunch of parasites.
Bill-payer
Yes, I've had debts, unmanageable ones. I've been screwed over by an employer, and could NOT collect employment insurance. I could also not get a job, due to being "terminated with cause" (which was b***s***: I was doing the job as trained, and PROPERLY, not cutting corners... which is apparently the way to do it at Convergys: Get the customer off the phone, who cares if you fix the problem, as Convergys was paied by the call)
Anyways, year later, new job, and with the credit card company calling 5-6 times 6 days a week, they were told to cease and desist. The calls would NOT stop even when payments and arrangements were made. "Oh, it takes 48-72 hours to update the system" b***s***. I spoke to a manager for PC Financial, and he agreed that if there were any more calls, the rest of the debt (which, at that time was INTEREST) would be forfeit, in lieu of me bringing them to court.
I got rid of my phone. I ended up running into the person who got my old number about 3 months later. The collection agency MJR would NOT stop calling, and were outright lying to the guy. They said that I had provided them the number. The would not stop calling even tho he had told them it was not the right number. (I only found out he had the number cause I heard him shouting at the twit on the phone). Same-said company did NOT provide the LEGAL paperwork that must be sent 10 days prior to calling, either.
MANY of these companies go to the lengths of CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Anyways... long story short: Collections agencies go out of their way to harass people, and that is a damned good way to get people to tell them to F**K off, and the hell with the debts, out of sheer frustration. The don't give a damn that they also get the wrong contact information, and do NOT seem to give a damn about verifying it.

What is the Statute Of Limitations Law In Canada
March 4, 2003 decision of the Supreme Court of Canada decided that limitations applied to CRA as well as other Crown proceedings. Section 32 of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act and Section 3 (5) of the BC Limitation Act barred collection of the Federal and Provincial portions of the debt since the debt was more than 6 years old.

British Columbia - Section 3 (5) of the BC Limitation Act sets 6 years as the limit for debt

I came across a product from Florida some time ago, that limits the allowable callers to your line. The company, Weeder Technologies, promotes it as an Incoming Call Restrictor ( some assembly required). You program it from your phone, the allowable numbers you provide. When a disallowed call is made, the caller hears the ring while your phone is silent. Check them out on the Web to see if this device is available and legal.
Just laugh at Josh
He's a collections agent that large companies sell pass stature of limitations accounts on. Meaning he buys the over due accounts from the company like all collections companies do, but he is so uninformed about them that most of the accounts are beyond the dates of collection so he can't collect. Basically when a company wants to recover lost accounts and income they turn to him so laugh it off the guy if also a failure! He has our past due Cogeco bill, we owned about $300 in past due during a rough patch, but then declared bankruptcy so all our debut and credit was wiped. 3 years later (after the time frame an over due account can be collected on any ways) he starts calling, saying the interest has now brought it to $1000 or something like that. I told him it was a non collectible account etc etc. He tried to tell me we still had to pay it, I told him he better send me a collections notice in writing then, to which he replied "I only have a phone number, a first initial, sir name, and balance owed; in my records" I just laughed and told him knowing that even if I did owe him money I wouldn't pay him now since he'd have a hell of a time proving we held that account, with out having my customer number with Cogeco, some kind of ID number (since you needed to use some kind of federal issue ID to get Cogeco service), or even my first name (Particularly since every male in my family has a name that starts with "M")

They can not collect unless they are licensed with your provincial consumer and corporate affairs. Next time they call ask them for their licence number to collect in your province. If they do not have one (and they do not!) lodge a complaint with your provincial consumer and corporate affairs..They can be fined if they try to do business in a province where they are not licensed to do so..Hope this helps..
