Bill-payer

Yes, I've had debts, unmanageable ones.  I've been screwed over by an employer, and could NOT collect employment insurance.  I could also not get a job, due to being "terminated with cause" (which was bu***hit: I was doing the job as trained, and PROPERLY, not cutting corners... which is apparently the way to do it at Convergys: Get the customer off the phone, who cares if you fix the problem, as Convergys was paied by the call)
Anyways, year later, new job, and with the credit card company calling 5-6 times 6 days a week, they were told to cease and desist.  The calls would NOT stop even when payments and arrangements were made. "Oh, it takes 48-72 hours to update the system" bu***hit.  I spoke to a manager for PC Financial, and he agreed that if there were any more calls, the rest of the debt (which, at that time was INTEREST) would be forfeit, in lieu of me bringing them to court.

I got rid of my phone.  I ended up running into the person who got my old number about 3 months later. The collection agency MJR would NOT stop calling, and were outright lying to the guy.  They said that I had provided them the number.  The would not stop calling even tho he had told them it was not the right number. (I only found out he had the number cause I heard him shouting at the twit on the phone). Same-said company did NOT provide the LEGAL paperwork that must be sent 10 days prior to calling, either.

MANY of these companies go to the lengths of CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Anyways... long story short: Collections agencies go out of their way to harass people, and that is a damned good way to get people to tell them to F**K off, and the hell with the debts, out of sheer frustration.  The don't give a damn that they also get the wrong contact information, and do NOT seem to give a damn about verifying it.

They can not collect unless they are licensed with your provincial consumer and corporate affairs. Next time they call ask them for their licence number to collect in your province.  If they do not have one (and they do not!) lodge a complaint with your provincial consumer and corporate affairs..They can be fined if they try to do business in a province where they are not licensed to do so..Hope this helps..

You can call your landline company and block that number if on a cellphone you can call your cellphone provider and get it block. If on a smartphones you xan block right on the phone it self. Hold down on the number and a window should pop up and say move to reject list or block.

NoDebt

Whoa, I am supposed to pay a collector for a debt that I can prove I paid? Again? Then they sell it to somebody else, again? And I have to pay, again?

How is that my fault.

You folks may not be telepathic, but when I tell you I have paid, can prove I paid (in a reasonable tone of voice) and that I will not be paying again, I do not deserve to be told to get a life, to pay my bills and that you will make my life a living hell until I do. I was sworn at, all because I said I would call back to make sure the issue had been cleared up.

In future, I will be recording all calls with this organization to forward to the appropriate authorities, along with my proof of no debt. Ontario only requires one party to agree to be recorded, and I am sure that if I asked for the recording your company made, it will be swiftly erased.

I did pay my bills. So drop off the face of the earth and get off my phone. Check your records. Get a real job. You reap what you sow. Stop trying to collect crap debts that were sold to you pennies on the dollar, but are not even really owed.

I was treated like crap by YOU folks, and I owe NO money at all. I have no mortgage, no credit cards, no car. My bills are all current. I will say this much - if I actually owed money, I would never, ever pay a collector who treated me like that. I would pay the original owner of the debt before I dealt with a rude, threatening, lying person who says they are watching my house to arrest me for a debt of less than  $100. That won't fly. Sometimes you can actually draw flies with honey. Be nice, wouldya? Some of us are nice people.

Tina

I have had my phone # changed so many times because Rogers gives me recycled numbers. This time around I guess they gave me a number that belonged to some guy who owed this company money. I called them to tell me this was the wrong number and the B!%*H hung up on me. Miserable lives for miserable people. I like that idea about posting their number on Craigslist. Because of this bull...I hope they never get their money!
