Canadian Government should awake from deep sleep.They are not doing much enough in such matters.People  are simply harrased by such telephone calls.In this technological age, it is not hard to find out culprit/s.Only powerful "will"is required from those who are sitting at the helms of affair.( I mean Ministry of Information).

Received a call from this number this morning. Super sketchy cause the call display name on my iphone showed "923417991072" so I didn't answer. No message left. They called again (just after I finished a security update on iphone) so I answered and it was a male with East Indian accent barely able to speak english. I was unable to understand and immediately hung up as it seemed like a scam or phone hack attempt. noticed later the actual phone number and that it's from Alberta. Obviously something fishy going on -  BEWARE!!!

I got a call from a woman with an East Indian accent. She said she was calling to let me know that as of today I would not be getting any more telemarketing calls and that I should hang up and wait for another call which would give me a 5-digit code. I asked who she was, because she hadn't introduced herself, and she said she was calling from some department within the "Federal Government of Canada" So I hung up and waited for the next call. But she called back a minute later and sounded surprised that I hadn't received the call. As part of her proposed solution, for whatever had supposedly gone wrong with their system, she asked me for my cell number, to which I said no, she tried again, and I again said no, to which she replied in an irritated voice, "Okay it's up to you!" and hung up on me. Definitely NOT a representative of the Government of Canada. Please DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO. THEY ARE *NOT* WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE.

The best thing to do is block the number. There are a few ways you can do this:
If they're calling your landline or cell phone (not a smartphone) call your service provider and ask if call-blocking is available
If they're calling your smartphone, look on your screen for an app market icon, click on it and search for a call-blocking app. There should be several available.

This number called me today, name came up as shahid, trying to sell me duct cleaning form Twon Duct Cleaning, I asked him why is calling me since I am on the NDNCL, he told me the system calls random numbers, so if that is the case, how do you comply with the do not call list? He has no answer, I asked for a supervisor, what a scam, he tell em to go back to sleep.
I filed a complaint with CRTC, I encourage everyone to do this, probably they will not do anything about it but at least it does scare the caller.
