A woman claiming to be from BC Cancer Foundation, wanting my banking information to update my donation. I asked for a number so I could call back with the information but she said she would call back. She gave some legitimate information which alarmed me but I did not give my banking info - she was quite persistent.

Claiming she is calling from St Paul Hospital, I told her I’m very busy and asked her to send me all the information, then she said will call me back, should be a scam and blocked the number!

Getting 4 or 5 calls a day for the past 3 days. On the few times that I answer there's nobody on the line.

They have been calling daily for quite some time. I usually just hang up when there is no-one there within four seconds but his time I hung on and hung on and finally just got a busy signal. Most annoying!

Strategic Communications is a very nice company that raises funds for many non-profits. They have many clients, so they could be calling about any one of them.

Well i guess we are all nice people but like many others i'm fed up with calls all day long that sometimes continue up until 9.30pm. Strategic Communications are well known for this..I'd suggest engaging with them & belittle them....you can be aggressive and unload with a string of profanities. You can ask who they represent...ask for their name,... ask for their supervisor's name & post this information on here. I'd recommend answering, be aggressive and tell them that the next time that they call you will report them....make a log...post the log.
If you're in B.C. & are with Telus look at the front of the book & there is a section that explains how to deal with harrassment. Yes these calls are harrassment. A few years ago i followed up. Yes, believe it or not you are instructed to call 911....Within an hour I had a call from the police & they dealt with it.
I also have another line for a fax machine....an unlisted #. I kept getting faxes for paint ball nights and my favourite one from Global Training Services...Courses for Computer training, Anger Management, Behavioral Interviewing techniques, etc etc etc. After calling several times to unsubcribe i got thru and left a threating call that i'd take further action.....Its no different to the flyers at your door in triplicate. A waste of MY PAPER & MY TONER.......If you can get their fax # you can tape together 3 sheets of paper (end to end), paint black on outside & fax......Do this for 20 minutes & it will possibly use up most of their toner. Call them in the morning & ask for management and let them know how you feel.
Unfortunately i need my fax machine as i do business with Canada Revenue and Border Services.
Some of you may recall that someone was fined recently......somewhere around 30 or was it 300 grand ...Intimidate them

Look at your phone bills and make sure that they are not charging you when you answer the phone. There are scams out there that you only have to answer your phone and there is no one there and then the next thing you know your phone bill has been charged an outrageous amount of money. I say, don't pick up the phone if you don't know the number, if it's an important they will leave a message. Tell all your friends and family that if you don't recognize a number you don't answer the phone and if they have an emergency tell them to leave a message and you will get right back to them.
