Ah - one final note about wrong numbers. The tracing department (people who track down evasive debtors) are required to use various tools to locate past numbers that belonged to the person they are looking for. They'll even look for numbers of people with the same last name in a town the debtor was known to have lived in just in case they are staying there. This is legal, although it's bloody annoying.Keep in mind that this information is often false, so a number that is listed as having belonged to someone may indeed have been yours for 18 years. Collections practices are far from perfect.

If you have a loan, they want you to make a payment on it, so make a payment, they stop.

The 519 number is a TD Canada Trust collection branch. I am one week late on a student line of credit payment and they have been calling me up to 8 times a day. I also received a call from a 1 866 number where they left a message and a reference number. When I called that back I asked about the 519 calls and she confirmed that it is TD and she would stop the calls if I gave a date when I can make the payment. I agree, very annoying...I can't believe they start calling like that after only one week...
