I got a call from this same number (416) 935-2848 she claims she has buisness with me regaurding TD Bank from 8 years ago and this account is registered to my social insurance number. I never told her any information about myself, told her she had contacted the wrong number. she got all freaked out and started yelling at me telling me she was going to call me everday and we could roll play exotic sex bu***hit over the phone!!! I told her to go @#$%^ herself and hung up. this lady is WACKED OUT!!! and she definatley has the wrong number cuz my credit is clean!!!

(416) 935-2848 is a number used by CollectCorp.  They are a collection agency and as a general rule the majority of the people they contact do actually owe money to whomever contracted them.  However, they basically operate like any telemarketing call center in that they employ people who can't get a real job and as a result their operation is extremely unprofessional.  That said, if you are receiving calls from them you either owe someone money that you are not paying, and you should do so as soon as possible, or you have been contacted by mistake due to the fact that they are basically incompetent in which case you should report their activity which is essentially harassment and really quite illegal.  Good luck, they are persistent even if only out of ignorance.

one call today- no message left.  Don't owe american express or canada trust (though i do bank with canada trust- trust me i'm up to date).  So unless UPS has passed on their accounts.

This is, indeed, CollectCorp. They've been calling me for years, trying all kinds of stupid stuff. Initially, I spoke to them and tried to speak some common sense to them, but that didn't work.

They are contracted to collect for a lot of different companies, including several banks and credit cards, as well as student loans.

I eventually installed an Asterix server (a type of souped up phone system), gave it a list of their numbers that I had collected over time, and programmed the server to pick up the phone and play back a recording just for them (it's the same recording you get when you dial a number that is out of service, which I recorded by dialing such a number).

The calls have been tapering off. Maybe I'm on to something *grin*.

This number keeps calling me too asking me to pass on a message to a neighbour who moved out months ago - which i told them and they told me I was a liar
No wonder peeps don't pay them, if they are legit, because I certainly wouldn't hand over money to a group that sounds so unprofessional that it seems like a scam
