I got a call today and had a voice mail left. It was Scotiabank and I do have an account with them. They were calling to make sure I active my new chip card they sent me in the mail.

John, how did you verify the #?  I think you are wrong about its validity.

Definately a scam!!!  September 25th 2013 I received a call from this number (416) 750-6018.  Computer voice said in voicemail they are calling from scotiabank and to call them immediately to verify a transaction or something like that.   So I called the number they left in their voicemail  (1-+1 800-290-2654) and it is very suspicious. They say that you've reached scotiabank but immediately they have to enter your credit card number.  No other options to speak to a live person or aything - they just want your credit card number.  Total scam.

I spoke to an actual person who called to advise me I was approved for a scotia bank credit card, that I needed to verify some personal info and to fax my drivers lisence and most current bill to a number. I took this info to my bank to fax and "SURPRISE" they had no idea and would NEVER ask anyone to fax this kind information but would call you into the branch.
