A man who operated a strip club in Richmond Hill in the 1990s has been sentenced to six years in prison and must pay a $12 million fine for tax evasion.

Riccardo DiGiuseppe, 70,was sentenced in Newmarket court Thursday by Justice Peter Tetley.Mr. DiGiuseppe’s lawyers argued that he doesn’t have the money to pay the fine. Tetley said if the fine isn’t paid, another year will be added to his prison term.

The prosecution team of Morris Pistyner, Joseph Markson and Peter De Freitas had called for a prison term of six years, and a $13.5 million fine, saying he has shown no evidence of remorse.

Mr. DiGiuseppe’s lawyers asked for a three-year term with no fine. The maximum sentence he faced was 10 years. He had no previous criminal record. York Regional Police are also looking for a accomplice that worked for him as a bouncer/ bodyguard named Big Nick that has worked for him for numerous years Police and Tax Canada are searching looking for him for additional information and will be arrested..
