i received a call today from (416) 555-7777 he sounded Indian as well, mumbled something then hung up, when I called back the number was no longer in service. Do any of you use facebook? it was recently hacked and it does often post your cell/home number you enter into it. Mine was my cell phone so i'm assuming that someone got it from there. Just an Idea.

This guy sounded like he had an Indian accent.  Claimed he was from "The Debt Company". When I remarked that that was a very vague name he said, "I know sir, the company's name is confusing but that is the name of the company." I then allowed him to do his bit for a while and he mentioned that "his company was in the area doing a survey of mortgage payments" and he had noticed that we had made our last couple of months worth of payments on time and that he had an offer to improve our interest rate.  I knew when I picked up the phone that it was a scammer and I love playing with these jokers.  I informed him that I was on the National Do Not Call List and to take me off the list.  He asked me why. We argued for a bit and then I asked him for a manager and he said that he was the manager (how convenient). I then asked for his phone number. The one he probably pulled off of the list was a 416 exchange. I then asked for the company name.  He had trouble remembering that and eventually came up with "The Debt Company"  I asked for his name, "My name?" he said "My name is uh... Gary"  I followed with "And your last name is.." "Uhm... uh Nelson"  A traditional Indian name I suspect.  I asked him where he lived and he said BC then started to wonder why I was asking so many questions.  I then told him about the National Do Not Call List and that I needed this information so that I could file a proper complaint with the CRTC (Canadian FCC) for violation of the NDNC list. He said he wasn't in violation. I asked if he was a charity or if we had done business together before.  He said yes.  I asked which one; charity or business he replied with "I don't understand". I then asked if he was a telemarketer. He said yes. I read him the telemarketers requirements from the web page and then repeated. Are you a telemarketer. He said yes. I asked if he had a copy of the numbers on the DoNot Call list.  He said no then changed his mind and claimed that he was not a telemarketer.  I proceeded to argue with him for a while longer until he finally gave up and hung up. I got a call from this number at 6:00pm (eastern time) which was a follow up on a number that made no sense- showed as 1-801-200-9. This was a lady saying that I was receiving federal grant money and needed all my information and bank so they can send the money. First time, when it was the 801 number, I told her that I DON'T think I could do this and do not have a bank account. She said she would call back later and hung up. She had an acent that was hard to understand. The second time she called was on this number, the (416) 555-7777 and asked to talk again about this. I told her again, NO. Hopefully don't get another call from her! She is pissing me off

Surely some group of thieves trying to get your personal info. Got a call few min back from some guy claiming to from the Federal Health Dept. Haha. Said if I pay $ 2.99 shipping and handling then I would get a federal health card which will give me 60 % discount on all medical bills over my insurance. Haha. Was trying the get my home address and bank a/c no. of credit card no. I asked the health care bill is yet to pass and you have already started selling such stuff. Gave a earful to the caller and cut the call.

Sick and Tired!
I have been gettting 3 to 4 calls a day from this number. They never leave a message, I am sick of getting these calls. How can I block this number?
I have answered a couple of times and I hang up after he says hello, I can barely understand him because he speaks poor English.

What can a person do?????

I have received about 25 calls from this number in the last 24 hours. Some foreign (Indian?) guy saying, "hello, hello, hello" in every message and trying to say some other stuff, but I couldn't understand any of it. I'm glad I googled this number and got this site, so I know I'm not alone. This is so annoying and creepy. Is there any way to track these a**holes down, or at least block the number?
