I received a call last evening.

It seems they are running some kind of "too good to be true" telemarketing campaign for Rogers Cable.

I talked to two individuals, Harry the customer service representative and Nash his supervisor.

Very annoying, no product knowledge and very unprofessional.

This phone number is for an outside telemarketer. I finally answered it to see who the h*ll it was calling all the time w/o leaving a message, They were calling on behalf of the American Red Cross--I'm a monthly donor who cancelled my credit card and forgot about their charging it monthly. Very polite canadian woman (accent in full effect).

I finally found out that this is the number that has been calling me several times a day for the past week or so.As mentioned by others, when you pick up the phone there is dead air and then after you say hello a few times, the call disconnects.  This makes it very frustrating since you can't ask someone to stop calling if you don't get a chance to speak with them.I'm not sure if it is because I use VOIP service, but the other frustrating part is that my caller ID always shows an invalid number:     073-120-2700     007-312-02700     000-731-202700     etcIt appears that these telemarketers are spoofing the caller ID data that they transmit.  (See http://www.vonage.ca/help.php?article=1160 for more information.)I finally got a response when they called again this evening.  When the man asked for me and asked how I was, I told him that I was VERY annoyed and proceeded to grill him for information.  This is when I discovered that these people call on behalf of the "promotions department" of Rogers Wireless.  It seems that for some strange reason, Telus and Bell Mobility also use this very disreputable company - I guess they were the lowest bidder! The company name is MOBILE ZONE, and (416) 342-1518 is apparently their contact number.I asked if he was aware that his autodialer is not working correctly, and keeps placing calls with dead air on the line.  He said yes, he was aware of the issue.  So I asked him to confirm - he indeed knows that the autodialer is calling several times a day and not connecting the calls, yet they continue to use it?  He said yes, they continue to use it despite this fact.  I also asked if he was aware that they were passing bogus caller ID data, and he said yes they are aware of that fact as well.  They blame the issue on the fact that they use an IP telephone system. For the record, I did work for a communications company that did telemarketing and am familiar with autodialers and many many of their settings.  These calls are coming through as dead air because the configuration of the predictive software is incorrect.  The predictive system thinks that it needs to make X number of calls so that Y number of us will answer the phone and keep their Z number of agents busy, but this company obviously has no idea what they are doing. At any rate, the dead air is the fault of this company, Mobile Zone, and not a phone line problem.I am also aware of several CRTC regulations concerning telemarketing companies.  There is a certain percentage of "abandoned" calls that are allowed, and legal.  Abandoned calls happen when your phone rings and you only get dead air on the other end because there is no telemarketer available for the computer to pass the call to.  Please see the PDD section at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/ENG/NEWS/RELEASES/2004/r040521.htm for information about the law.MOBILE ZONE, the company in question, is clearly exceeding the allowed abandon rate, which is punishable.  I would suggest that everyone here contact not only the people at Rogers/Bell/Telus Mobility that are using this company, but also the CRTC so that action can be taken against Mobile Zone. You can submit a complaint with the CRTC by visiting their website at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/RapidsCCM
