Ah! I may be able to enlighten on who they are. The first time they reached me in person, I must have said the right things. They wanted to sell a duct cleaning service. When I asked for more information about the company, did they have a website? I insisted that I would not make a decision on that call, but needed a week to think about it. (My phone has never rung so much since!) The website provided was: http://homestars.com/on/toronto. I didn't make sense to me, and I decided against it after speaking with a local company about duct cleaning services generally.

Tonight, 2 weeks after that conversation, I answered a call from a *00000000 number and it was them. (So they are blocking who they are now? They can do that?) When I informed them that I was not going to do duct cleaning this year but they could call me next year (at which time I would also say no thank you) - the guy almost shrieked "A year!" and then he hung up on me.

Around the same timeframe, I have been incessantly receiving calls from a (613) 877-4620 number who leave empty messages on my voicemail (with foreign languages being spoken in the background, like a call centre). When That caller reached me, they hung up after I said hello 8 times or so.

Also around the same timeframe, calls from a Private Number.

Are they all connected since they all started around the same timeframe?

I'd like to know who is responsible for the website given... the breadcrumb trail...

Call the police with that information... as well as bell.... ... I just got a call from them... but didn't answer... if they call again... I might just be tempted to pickup and play the game against them.... lol

I'm a telephone guy and thought I'd give you some info:
1) when you are getting calls from this number and there is no one there it is because they are using a "predictive dialer". What this device does is anticipate that one of their agents is about to finish a call and starts dialing the next call. If no agent is ready the caller gets silence, waiting for the agent to free up. They do this to try and optimize how many calls their agents can do. Reputable companies have the timers set so there is less nuisance factor, but scam companies like this don't care.

2) This has been reported to police but they could end up with a dead end. The number could be tracked to a company out of country and by the time they find who it is sold to the company has moved on. This is particularly an issue with VoIP as the police may need to track down IP addresses and the like to try and find their physical whereabouts.

3) Because the number is not getting through means that the phone company providing it has probably already recognized this is a problem and has disconnected them. Odds are the phone company will get stuck with a lot of unpaid bills.

I just called this number & was told the number was no longer in service. I called my service provider & since this number is on my blocked list they are going to look into it.

Yes there is..... I have been getting calls from these a***s since July asking me for a credit card to verify my acct. When I told them they need to jump off a cliff and get a new life they hung up. But now they call em 17 times in 12 day. every day for a week now. Phone busters is a fraud line for people like this to be caught. CALL 1 +1 888-495-8501 or website www.recol.ca REPORT them..... It has gone so far that I am getting threats from them and that I am related to BIN LADDIN and need to die.....

I had a similar incident. Same thing. Guy tried to sell me internet and home phone with Bell and I said I already have it can';t you see on my account? he said no. he has no access to it, it's part of the privacy agreement in canada. what??? lol loser. I will report this to Bell Canada
