Credit card consumer advocate called with caller id of (250) 980-3438 with same offer of reducing interest rates on credit cards.  Could hardly understand him and he said he would call back.  2 minutes later called back showing a (647) 288-1289 area code id and went through the spiel. I told him I would not give any information over phone and that I would check out their info and call back if I wanted to pursue anything.  He gave me a Alberta area code number (403) 648-9228.  I could not find these numbers on reverse directories so with what they are asking for it would be wise to rebuff them. This guy gave the name Oscar Smith.  Nice non-descript name for a guy that speaks english with a heavy east Indian accent.

Somebody called me from (250) 980-3438 on Feb. 08/10 9:50am in Calgary telling me that I owe 100K on my visa and asking me about my and my husband?s visa statement. After I told that I don?t know my husband?s statement and that my statement shows $0 balance they hung up on me.

Try to scam me.

Same experience as others. Wanted my credit card information promising me lower rates.  Refused to identify their company. SCAM

I had the same thing happen. I mean if the credit card company wanted to reduce my rate because I pay off my credit card in full they'd just do it. They would also know the information they are asking for. And they always ask for confirmation question to make sure it's them. Plus they are asking for more then one of your credit cards, this means they are NOT with the card issuing company and they can't possibly be from your credit card company. Also, did a reverse look up and it's a land line in British Columbia, Canada it appears to be through Telus. Obviously NOT a REAL call center! THIS IS A SCAM BEWARE!!!
