They called and Tried to offer a trip to mexico. 990 for all inclusive week. They also asked if I was 25 and had a valid CC. They wanted me to book right away and give them a CC # to hold the booking and I won't be charged until I book the trip and I ahve up to a year to book the trip. It is for sure a scam. After I had lead them on and they wanted my CC # I just hung up.

Just got this call at my work phone. I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. All those scammers really want is for you to press a certain number which could give them access to charge you long distance charges of any amount they wish on your phone line(ie: $100/minute) while putting you on hold to maximize charges. Or to check off an automated list of active numbers so they can sell it to other telemarketers for profit.

Woo! This number just called me and said I won $100,000. I hung up before I heard anymore, but nice scam.

Just received the call saying I a preferred Bell customer, press 1 to receive prize --- I am not a Bell customer. Beware!

Trying to scam your credit card information from you BEWARE! I pressed 1 and spoke to someone who said I had to be over 25 and hold a valid CC in order to collect my "prize". I'm sure he could tell by my fake indian accent I was not being serious and I was left on hold... once again, BEWARE!!!

Crazy - I got a call on my cell today, and on my house phone yesterday -- I missed both calls, and no message was left. Good to know!! Thanks for posting about the scam. For the record, I'm not a Telus customer at home or on mobile.

These scams cannot be stopped until regulations on VOIP are implemented and prevent these cons form faking numbers and calling people.
The really good cons are now using legitimate phone numbers for companies and spoofing their number and claiming to be from those companies. For example they would use the Bell 1-866 number and claim to be from Bell, so if you looked up the number you would see it was Bell.
They do this and ask for your personal information.
Here is the defacto of EVERY company, they will never cold call you for your information. They will never call you claiming that your card, number or something else may have been used in a fraud, scam or hack and ask you to verify it. Simply put, no legit company will ever solicit your information on a cold call.
