Got a call from an unknown number, identifying themselves as Virtual PC Doctor.  They deliver an alarmist pitch about the state of your computer's hardware and software (in my case, directing me on a self-guided tour through my Windows event logs with ominous reference to any "error" level events) and how they can help improve performance, remove malware, etc, via remote control.  I wasn't falling for it, and stalled with assorted questions.  When I asked for his phone number, he gave it as (226) 777-0099, but delivered it in a very odd way, like 122-677-700-99.  He seemed pretty focused on getting me connected to a technician, but I eventually told him I'm a computer tech too, and well familiar with Windows event logs, and that the red ones don't automatically correspond to viruses.  I later called back to the number and it was indeed Virtual PC Doctor.  I told them that apart from the first two returns that pointed to their site, my google search for their company name returned nothing but concerns of scams and frauds.  I strung them along for a while longer before asking them to put me on their do-no-call list.  They seemed obliging, and wouldn't terminate the call before I did.  Weird.

Received a call from this number telling me that my windowsxp might not be protected.  The person on the phone wanted to check my system but I was suspicious about this call.  Not sure what company this is from.  The caller kept mentioning Microsoft. Has anyone else had a call from this number?
