Frank

I received three of these calls in the past month. The first two times I could hardly understand what the individual was telling me so I hung up. The second time the line was cut off. In the past two days we have received a number of calls which they hung up when we answered.I got another call the afternoon and a call that he said would last 5 minutes lasted over 20 minutes and he advised me that it lasted longer because of the numerous questions I was aking. He showed me all the errors and warnings in my computer telling me that it was infected and should have lost a lot of speed and performance and was omewhat put off when I told him that I had not noticed any problems lately. He brought me to their website which does look real but when he asked me to go to their support system, that a professional would take over control of my computer, I told him I no longer had the time and was going to call him later. he got very agitated but I now have his name(if it's the right one) his company # and of course the tel. # (905) 667-5558.Now that I know I will report it to phone busters tomorrow.

Ivan Smith

This is Ivan Smith from Sydney Australia. This techbuddha guys are based in Kolkata India as I happened to be friend a caller who called me . he gave all his contact details in India with addresses. The base company is set to be registered in Australia though. The website is all crap and they get it re-designed to fool people . This is one of the best ways to scam an indivual and take away all his personal information as credit card details and the authorization number. Please be aware of these type of scammers who rob your personal details and later use the same information to swipe your card again and again. Please check this link http://diversifiedtechnologiesindia.com/about_us.php, this is where they are calling from .

DW

I received a call from these guys and like you, i thought i would let him have his say. I feel stupid now because i let him get as far as to gain access to my computer- he was able to move my mouse and type etc. He downloaded an anti-virus program and then wanted me to pay $300 for it, which i refused. He said he would send me an applicatrion form to filll out, which i also refused and eventually hung up.
I am wondering now what i should do to pprotect my secrity- and how much access he could have gained?
I changed my bank account passwords, on another computer but do not know if this is enough?
Any information wouyld be helpful- thanks

tech buhda - what a joke.

Ya I did the "be nice" thing and tried to get info like, who hired "Tech Budha" to look after my devices on the internet.  Since they try to convince you that "they want to advise you of a widespread "Windows" problem, I also asked if he was also going to call everyone on the planet running Windows LOL

Then I looked at their spiffy website, and contact info where nobody answers the phone.

This has scam all over it and its sad that some people will believe their computers are generating tens of thousands of errors.   LOL, and if it was, do ya not think Windows would let us know?

Now I in no uncertain terms just tell them to F$%& right off.

Eff the scammers!

Yes, definitely a fraud, however I'm afraid "the authorities" can't do much except get the phone number disconnected. Then they will start using a different phone number. These people are committing fraud outside the country and no court in Canada will prosecute them. What is a local police sevice going to do - send officers to Inda to arrest a sweat-shop full of people earning $5 per week and bring them to Canada and prosecute them? Even if the ring-leaders can be identified they will not be prosecuted here or in India (or whatever country, it's not just India). And it's not just one set of fraudsters. There are many of these rings operating.

And I agree with the first commenter - there should a a FRAUD section to choose from because 'Telemarketer' just doesn't cut it.
