You clearly work for student LoansWait for the number to leave you a messageIf you listen to the message a recording says "This call is for ____" and they will just spit out any name then say :If this is you, please call back. The reason I know this is not legit is that I did have OSAP and is has been paid in full. I have the paper work proving itDO NOT ANSWER!!

As many people have said before, it's OSAP. I just submitted an application there for some repayment assistance and it was them following up. But they'll call for any number of reasons regarding your loan.
It doesn't matter if you don't give them updated information, they can obtain that from other branches of government, it's not that hard. If you file any sort of tax return they could get it from CRA and I'm sure that any forms you signed when you received OSAP give them permission to do this. Having worked for Social Services before, all forms signed by clients gave us permission to contact CRA to get any information we needed about taxes and anybody else that might have information about them regarding eligibility (banks, schools to get attendance records, previous employers, etc.) I'm sure OSAP is no different.

This number just called today stating they are calling from the student loan and want to verify my personal information, but student loan has another phone number starting from 1 8.... I told the guy that this is not the phone # of the Student Loan Service and also told them that my documents have been stolen recently (the true) and told that I am going to call them back. Then I called them, the women answered stating that this is Student Loan organization. I told them I do not believe her and will be recording the conversation and later would use it in the court.Right away, the woman told me that she is not giving me a permission to record and just hang off on me...

This number belongs to Tricura Canada Inc. and is perfectly legitimate. The N.S.L.S.C. has outsourced some of their functions to Tricura. I work in a call centre that deals with other companies customers, you would be surprised how many of the companies you deal with have outsources the call centres. Just because they called you and you have no student loan does not mean they are a scam. I do have a federal student loan which was up to date when they called me. What happened was some actual dead beat gave them a phone number that didn’t belong to them so they wouldn’t be bothered by Tricura when they defaulted on their loan.

1-(905) 306-6249Is a complete SCAM!!! SCAM!! SCAM!!!I got a call today November 1, 2011 and this number says from National Student Loan - wouldn't give me the reason why they are calling. They wanted my SIN number, verify address, verify name, etc.I think it's probably for ID theft. They tried to give me a number to call back but I just went on the National Student Loan website to get the real number to call the loan centre. I called National Student Loan back and they have no record of this number calling and there is nothing wrong with my account.BEWARE ID Theft

This is the National Student Loans centre like the below respondants said. They called me to let me know that my lump sum payment went through properly on my OSAP loan. They removed me from their "courtesy call list". They were very helpful. No scams here.
