The monkey, not the organ grinder

A 'Phillip', calling from 'Arrow Electronics' (allegedly), called me and said he had a few questions to ask me as part of a consumer marketing survey. I told him I was busy. He then came out with a load of waffle, telling me I was obligated under U.K. law to co-operate with them or be fined. I told him that this is absolute and utter nonsense, and that I am not a fool nor do I like to be treated like one. He went quiet and then I asked to speak to his supervisor/manager. He became agitated and said the manager wasn't at the 'office'. I asked for a contact number for the manager so I could speak to him directly, and he point blank refused to give it to me. I told him, that under U.K. law, If I went to a legal representative, I'd get the relevant details anyway. 'Phillip' then told me that he would be contacting the law enforcement to complain about my non-compliance and then hung up. I tried to phone back, but received no answer and went straight through to voice mail.

These people are most obviously scammers. I have every belief that they are not 'Arrow Electronics' and are a group of scam-artists who try to illegally phish personal details from un-witting members of the public. They should be ignored and reported to the relevant representatives, as they serve nothing more than to cause nuisance and grief to innocent people.

I have reported them for calling me when they are not allowed, and all others should follow suit.

SP in Texas

Called again today and responded when I answered.
They said they were following up to see if I wanted product information related to a webcast I had watched several days ago about "Achieving High CRI with LEDs" sponsored by "LED Magazine" and
OSRAM.

I'm still curious why a legitimate sales person would hide there true caller ID.
Hiding ones identity or company affiliation sounds like a scam.
