Keep getting calls from 888-123-4567.  No messages are left.  It calls my cell phone.  I'm on the do not call list for both my land line and cell.  Very annoying.  Decided to answer.  No one there.  Decided to call back.  Message - "Your call cannot be completed as dialed.  Please check the number and try again."

Keep in mind that for less than $100, anyone using a computer-based phone or dialer system can show a caller I.D. with ANY number and ANY name.  Sad but true.  That's the wonder of technology.  So it may very well be that all of us are getting calls from different folks showing 888-123-4567.

Also, many telemarketers and collection agencies now make use of "pretext" calling companies who exist ONLY to confirm that a customer's phone is working or to confirm that a particular person is a resident of a certain home.  

Here's the worst part...if you speak with these people or even just call back to try to speak to them, they'll then have your number registered as a working phone that, should their client wish, can be called again.

So the best thing you can do is just ignore the calls until the caller's maximum number of "no answers" has been reached for your number.  That's the only way it will ever stop.

Received calls from this number, today someone actually was on the other end representing CA Research.  This has got to quit.

The government should pass a law that forbids any company from making calls using a computer system to dial the call and then the only time you get someone on the other end is IF they aren't talking to someone else.  Also, if we really want a "national do not call list", there should be an easy way to forward marketing calls do a National do not call list center.

Started getting the same 2 days ago. ?Last night it called back within 5 minutes - same thing - no one there.  Highly annoying!
