On 11th July I recieved a similar call. The person who spoke first had a Chinese accent. She said that my computer was infected with viruses and guided me through until a username and password poped up on the screen. I went along with her because she made out she was from Microsoft Singapore. I believed since I had some issues and have been sending error reports to Microsoft. I related the call to those error reports and gave her the username and password that was on the screen. Then a male who was supposed to be her technician came on line and gave me a bad picture about what was going to happen if I did not pay him to rectify and maintain my computer. That is the time I realised that I was taken for a ride. He said that the computer will crash in two hours and later claimed that he is the Manager for Microsoft Singapore and that he would cancell my windows licence. I have lodged a complaint with the police who have promised to follow this up. This guy is Indian though he claimed to be from UK and gave me his name as Alan.Don't entertain any calls from anyone claiming to be from Microsoft because Microsoft Singapore said that they do not call anyone to sell products or services.

I just got the exact same phone call about 5 minutes ago and immediately came to check if anyone else was getting these calls. The guy had a very heavy Indian accent and asked all the same things that all of you have reported. I told him that I had no idea what he was talking about because I don't have a computer. Well, that left him baffled. I then hung up without another word.

What the *bleep* is wrong with people???!!!

Got a call from a guy claiming they are from Microsoft, Window service centre on 5 Sept 2011. He informed me that my computer had been sending error signal and had malicious file which can wipe out my computer. He asked me to run "prefetch". I did not believe him and grew suspicious, giving him excuse that Iam busy and would call him back. He then give this number : 8001012199.

Just received the same social engineering attempt from this 'Windows Service Center'
I knew they are fake from the start, but managed to get this number and the name 'Steve Anthony' from them.  

I even predicted that he will ask me to do before he said it!
(run the command line) Haha!  Try harder!

Just made a police report.  (I stay in Singapore)
Regret not playing them on to get more information (I stopped rather early)

Microsoft is aware of this aggressive calling. A bit pathetic that they were calling from +1.001.530 and the guy claimed to be Sam Watson (ID# J800), though clearly he was not with his poor handling of the English language.
