That worked for me as well.  I didn't have to key in my #.  Took only 3 times.

Got a call today at 11:32 a.m. and they left a recorded message saying that they were making a special offer to homeowners. A free home security system for placing a sign at my home...right....I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and listing them as a telemarketer, though I suspect a phishing aspect.

I received a call from this number, no message left so I called it back.  I got a message telling me that if I wanted my number removed from their data base to press 1,  I pressed 1 and was asked to key in my number, I did as instructed and then received a message requesting I allow them seven days to remove my number from their data base.  I called back three more times and went through the same procedure, entering my number and on the forth call I received a message that my number had been removed from their data base.  It took about three minutes, no need to wait the seven days for them to do it.
