Hello,

The community of Beaverdam , located approximately 22 kilometers southwest of the City of Cold Lake , is seeking an ‘owner’ for their cemetery.

In 2012 it was discovered that the Beaverdam Cemetery did not meet the definition of a ‘cemetery ‘ as per the Cemetery Act Chapter C-3 of Alberta.
The exiting land title for the site had 3 individuals (deceased) as the owner and the property was never registered with the province as a ‘cemetery’. The cemetery act only allows a cemetery to be owned by a religious auxiliary, religious denomination or a municipality. Thus at present this property cannot be used as a cemetery.

The Beaverdam community wants this site of continue as a cemetery as it has been , that being an interfaith cemetery (open to all ). People in the community are willing to continue in contributing in the property’s caretaking.

Would your organization be interest in taking over ownership of this property and have it continue as a cemetery?
