got call on cellphone, was curious so i went to a payphone and called it back (in case it was someone for real - i am from BC). And got that travel dollars message AND i pressed one becuase it was from a payphone anyways.

Then it told me to hold. and then after5 seconds it disconnected........

I got call from this # (778) 785-4596... who is this , i go to china tonight

Called me in Saskatchewan, left no msg. It called me over my lunch hour, didn't recognize it and didnt answer it. I used reverse directory but it didn't have a name or address listed.

i did not get a call from this number, I am no on a do not call list because do not call lists can be publicly viewed thats how these scammers get your number,smarten up people!!!

I just got a call from that number on my cell phone which is very strange cause I never get calls on my cell phone..... so I didn't answer it. I didn't get a voicemail either though.

got call too .. message said 'you have won travel points or discount or something of $2600 or $2601, press 1 to claim'i just hung up778 is cell prefix for BC someone is using cell phone, probably pre-paid, to do automated dialing.  but from people's reports above, nothing happens when you press 1.i suspect it is some scheme to test phone numbers for viability.  perhaps they get our numbers from some harvesting method, then test them to see if answered, if press 1 or not, and if answerer was male/female voice, detect accent if any, and to record what people say eg do they swear, or ask who is it etc.its a kind of intelligence gathering scheme.  prob can get some interesting demographic, marketing data doing this.it is borderline illegal though as it is calling 'do not call' numbers, and if the users could get their heads together, we might discover that the harvesting method is illegal or unethical too.
