778 numbers are cellphone numbers here in BC Canadathe automatic voice message when i picked up the phone said i won $500 travel dollars and press 1 to get the money

I received an unsolicited call from this number in violation of the National Do Not Call List regulations. ?I hit 1 and spoke to a heavily-accented agent who repeatedly mumbled the name of the company- it sounded a bit like "American Eagle Vacations".  I told them they were in violation of the DNC registry, that I would report them, and that they must immediately remove my number from their listings.  Then, I reported them on the DNC website.  Don't forget the importance of reporting telemarketers who violate the DNC list!

i did not get a call from this number, I am no on a do not call list because do not call lists can be publicly viewed thats how these scammers get your number,
smarten up people!!!

got call too .. message said 'you have won travel points or discount or something of $2600 or $2601, press 1 to claim'i just hung up778 is cell prefix for BC someone is using cell phone, probably pre-paid, to do automated dialing.  but from people's reports above, nothing happens when you press 1.i suspect it is some scheme to test phone numbers for viability.  perhaps they get our numbers from some harvesting method, then test them to see if answered, if press 1 or not, and if answerer was male/female voice, detect accent if any, and to record what people say eg do they swear, or ask who is it etc.its a kind of intelligence gathering scheme.  prob can get some interesting demographic, marketing data doing this.it is borderline illegal though as it is calling 'do not call' numbers, and if the users could get their heads together, we might discover that the harvesting method is illegal or unethical too.

I got a call from these jerkoffs. My voicemail was not set up and I could not get to the call in time. I'm on a private list. WTF?

Got a call on Oct. 1st at 6 pm. Told me I won 2600 travel dollars and to press 1 for claim. I stayed on the line and got disconnected.I'm on DNC list since last year. According to Canadian telemarketer rules this call is against the rules, regardless of whether you're on DNC list or not.
