It's a telemarketer. Mine was an auto recorded message that said something about Airmiles. I hung up immediately.

Getting calls from this number too, on a brand new cellphone number.
Must be Telus who sells our numbers for telemarketing, since I have not given this number to anyone at all  yet, and it's not listed anywhere
Would like Telus to deny that.

I received a call from this number a few minutes ago. I did not answer as I have seen this # before and its total BS.
I have never had marketing calls to my cellular # and never, ever give it out.
How is this legal for them?

Got a call from this number tonight. Didn't answer but I did start googleing the number to see what I could dig up on it. It appears to be a scam. On a site similar to this one there is more information. Check it out. http://www.whycall.me/(705) 983-8989.html

Not really. They can robodial all the numbers in 604 and 778. Your best defence is to ignore calls from numbers that you don't recognize. If it's from someone you know, they more likely will leave a message.
