I'd call them a borderline scam.
They just called asking for me by my maiden name (which hasn't been used in at least 4 years), telling me my credit card would be going to collections. The woman told me it was urgent that I provide information or they'd be pushing it through to collections.
I've never had a credit card in my life. Nor has my husband. We're "if you can't afford it, you don't need it at all" people - cash on time, everytime.
Nice try, though. Reported.

Like many others have said, this number is a legitimate Chase Card Services number. Chase has a call-centre based out of Ottawa, ON and provides financial services (credit cards) for Sears Canada, Best Buy, Future Shop and Marriot Hotels. With that said, I would be hesitant to provide any sensitive/personal information to them until you have been able to confirm that they are indeed calling from Chase. Typically banks don't call and immeditaely ask you to verify your mother's maiden name (or any other sensitive information) until they've provided enough context to justify the need for this information. As others have alluded to, these calls are typically a pro-active attempt on their part to resolve concerns found on your account (i.e. possible Fraud, returned mail/bad address, collections, etc) Although this could change, Chase Card Services is not known for making telemarketing or outbound sales calls. As a rule of thumb, if you suspect that the call may be illegitimate, ask if you can call them back at the toll free number on the back of your credit card (or found on your monthly statement or even their website) as you want to make sure you're speaking to the right people.

Yes, Chase bank offers various credit cards in Canada. This is a valid number for the security department.

They phoned me twice this morning at 6:20 am and woke up my baby. None of my cards are overdue and I haven't moved. I did however have sears phoning me from a different number several times a day until they finally answered and told them to piss off. Now we have this number. Baby's don't go back to sleep at 6:20.
