Make sure that when you call their 1-+1 800-505-5525 to be taken off their list that you don't get really angry and yell "take me off your list!" then hang up the phone... they don't have caller-id so in order to take you off their list they actually need you to give your phone number! They will gladly take you off their list after that.

The number listed is an automated dialer for Canadian Diabetes Association Clotheline Program, based in Ottawa, Ontario. Our office serves the Ottawa region and Upper Ottawa valley. We are not soliciting money, nor will we accept any if you offer to give a cash donation. Our staff are asking for any used clothing you may have. I suspect that if you have not given a donation in the past, the person who had your number before you may have given us a donation.
If you receive a call from this number, and wish to be removed from our call list, please ask to be removed, and your phone number will be immediately stricken from our records.
My apologies if our call has offended or annoyed you in any way. it was certainly not our intention.

I've had the same problem with this number calling me repeatedly, over & over again, and never leaving a message. The reason there's nobody on the line when you pick up is because they're using an automated dialing machine. It dials 9-10 numbers all at once and the first person who picks up gets connected to a live person. The other 8 or 9 people who picked up a little later only get dead air on the line. If they didn't reach you the firs time, they'll just keep calling & calling & calling until you actually are the first person to pick up your phone.
It's annoying and disturbs my peace & quiet a great deal, not to mention that it interrupts my work, as I work from home. I've asked them repeatedly NOT to call here anymore, as I donate my used clothing somewhere else, but they STILL won't stop. So don't be fooled, if you request to be taken off the list, all that does is confirm to them that your line is active, so they'll just keep calling you.
Maybe the solution is to tell them that yes, you do have clothing to donate and then when they come to the door, don't answer it. Maybe if they make a trip out to your place for nothing, that's the only way they'll learn their lesson.
I will NEVER, NEVER donate anything to the Diabetes Association because of this annoying practice of theirs, and I've been telling all of my friends to do the same.
