I receive calls from this number at my work place almost everyday. When I answer nobody speaks. and after a few second of silence the line gets disconnected. When I call back it plays " The number you've reached is not in service - this is s recording". I wonder how this type of automated calls pass through our exchange and reach my extention. Ususally, if someone wants to reach me at work he has to dial the exchange and then dial an extension. Is it possible to follow these steps through automated process?

By the way, I don't owe money to anyone and I don't use Fido or Rogers service. But the skype incoming number is generally ends with 0000. I've a friend who calls me regularly from Skype and I see different numbers all ends with 0000.

Does anyone have any clue about this spammer?

I don't get it... the number keeps calling my friends phone and it beeps at us.  We know its not a fax number.  We just finished watching the movie One Missed Call and are pretty freaked out!!!!!  I JUST DONT GET IT.........

When people use online services to such as Skype to make phone calls, the call goes through local telephone line in the recipient's area.  This is the number for one of the lines that Skype uses.  Thus different companies (especially if they were calling from abroad and didn't want to pay the long distance fee) or individual people all go through the same phone number.

Definitely not a collection agency because I don't owe money. 3 Calls received from that number over the weekend and I sent them all to VM but no message was left.

This number called me at 12:17 today and when I called it back I got the same "not in service" message that everyone else has recieved.

We've been having this number call our house for about 24h hours now.  At supper time yesterday, it called for the first time, and called about every five minutes after that, making that fax sound.  At first, we thought it was someone that was just really incompetent with fax machines, so we decided to unplug the phone for the night.  When we tried calling back, it was the obvious no service message.  Around noon today, when we plugged the phone again, I checked the messages, and that number had called us 24 times during the night!!!  24 TIMES!!!  It started calling again around 6 o'clock today, while we were having supper.  My mother called bell to ask about these calls, and all they said was that it wasn't a bell number, so they couldn't do much about it, except offer to block that number for 7$ a month.  We need to pay bell to keep that number from spamming us.  This is ridiculous.  And even if it was a con artist, how could this even be profitable??  I mean, it's not like they're the ones who are getting the 7$/month pay...  About every five minutes still, we get a call.  Same thing, same number, same fax sound.
