Those pinheads called me as well. No message though. Just wasted my time. The number did show on the call display.
For Canadians... here it is... right from the horse's mouth:
Dear Ms. Xxxxxxxx:
Thank you for taking the time to contact the CRTC.
The use of Automatic Dialing-Announcing Devices (ADADs) for the purpose of unsolicited telemarketing calls is not permitted under Part IV of the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules, whether your number is registered or not on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL). ADADs are devices that dial telephone numbers automatically and deliver a pre-recorded message. These devices cannot be used to sell or promote a product or service unless a consumer has provided express written consent to be called. They can be used for the purpose of relaying public service announcements by police and fire departments, schools and hospitals. They can also be used for appointment reminders and thank you calls. For more detailed information on the use of ADADs, see Part IV in the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules at this link from our website: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2008/dt2008-6-1.htm.
If you have received an ADAD call that you believe is in violation of these rules, you can file a telemarketing complaint by logging on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) Web site at www.dncl.gc.ca, or by calling the National DNCL service line toll-free number at 1-866-580-DNCL (1-+1 866-580-3625) or by TTY at 1-888-DNCL-TTY (1-+1 888-362-5889). To file a complaint, you must know either the name or telephone number of the company that called you, and the date the company called you.
For your additional information, telemarketers calling you are required to display a valid phone number (except where the number display is unavailable for technical reasons) as per the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules.
