Here is what I do:1. I registered with the DNCL at https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/index-eng2. Every time I get a call like this I register a complaint, eventually they will be shut down if everyone starts complaining.

Time to play the game.
I got the same call...but NO message. When we get the calls we should waste their time to play the game like they like to waste our time. Just make up a story & get them so fustrated that they hang up & hopefully not call you, again.

Unfortunately registering for the DNCL is useless. It is completely ineffectual, the number of calls I got increased after I signed up, and I stopped reporting calls when the DNCL system began requiring I provide private contact information which, the fine print says, may be provided to the caller. I don't need that headache. Also I have only heard of a couple of charges actually being filed, those were against callers who actually ran legitimate businesses within Canada. The DNCL is powerless to do anything against calls from outside Canada. That 519 area code from Ontario means nothing; the call is likely spoofing the number and actually originates from the US or Pakistan. Complain all you like to the DNCL, they can't do a thing until actual international agreements are put in place that have teeth.A better, simpler solution to avoid these calls: subscribe to call display, buy a phone with call display capabilities (99% of landline phones have this now, and 100% of cell phones), make sure you have a working voicemail, and simply do not answer calls from out-of-province numbers that you don't recognize (or blocked numbers if you don't know anyone with one). If the caller is truly legitimate, they will leave a voicemail. If you have family and friends who have blocked/unlisted numbers, consider setting up a "signal" system - i.e. let the phone ring once, hang up, then dial again - so you know it's them.
