This just has to be a scam - if they send this text message to enough phone numbers someone is probably going to make the mistake of entering all there card details resulting in them loosing money.
Best to ignore this message completely and, if you are concerned about a debit or credit card being restricted - contact your bank directly.

The six-digit "card number excerpt" was a link; naturally I didn't follow the link.

mine was a text from yxdrfi @ messaging.sprintpcs.com. I sent an email to abuse @ messaging.sprintpcs.com. You should too!

i got a text this moring from rlizop @ messaging.sprintpcs.comFarmers and merchants has limited your 540313xxxxxxxxxx card. please call (514) 994-5964.this is a SCAM!!Who ever this company is knows that thousands of credit and debit cards issued by mastercard start with 5403 and thats how they hook you. They make it look like they knnow your card # so it must be legit. The average person doesnt notice or realize that thousands of cards start with that same#...the first 4 of a card is  not unique to any one person.  I work for a landline telecommunications  company and the same type of scam comes through on home phones as well. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CARD OUT TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU OR LEAVES A MESSAGE FOR YOU!! YOU KNOW THE COMPANIES YOU DO BUSINESS WITH AND THE NAME OF YOUR BANK OR CREDIT  CARD AGENCY.  THIS IS DEFFINATELY A SCAM .... in most cases these calls route to an international company where there is limited recourse or recovery.
