I received a call today warning me that my car warranty was going to expire.  As I don't own a car, I assumed it was a scam, but decided to find out more.  I believe it is the same company as one using 954-734-8504, which has been reported on a few sites and seems to be a fishing scam.  According to other things I have read, they sometimes harass with multiple calls and try to get credit information.  Most seem to be either asking about car warranty, even though they don't know what kind of car their target owns, though sometimes also represent a credit card agency.

The above is from other consumer web sites.  I did asked to be connected, and tried to get more information on where they were located or the actual company for what car company they were working as an "agent" (their word).  The woman was not rude, but refused to answer any questions or to let me speak to a supervisor.  She was very unprofessional, sounded surprised that I would ask, and even said she wouldn't give me info because "I might be a stalker-type"!  She was probably working at home.  I will be interested to see if they call back.

I hit *69 and called back the number, and the message said it was unassigned.  Given reports on the 954 number, I believe they are set up to not accept calls and have a bogus message.  I checked, and the 506 area code is in Canada.

By the way, she was also incredulous that I don't have a car!

Received a recorded message that this was my last chance to reduce my credit card interest rate. I checked the number and it's a cell phone out of Bathurst, NB, Canada; the cell phone carrier is listed as Rogers Wireless. Since I had just spoken with my credit card company last week, I did not respond to the automated call, I hung up.
