Fraud Investigator

Have received numerous calls from this number in the past couple of weeks. Phone # shows up with the #'s 91 preceding (416) 999-4930.  THIS IS A SCAM!  Those are the digits I would need to dial to make an outgoing long-distance call.  DO NOT CALL BACK THIS PHONE #! If I answer, there is silence on the other end, if I let it go to VM, I get the following message.speaking in British accent.... "Hello, this is Paul Miller (?), Vice President at HP Software.  You should've just received an email from me listint the top 10 reasons to attend HP Discover in Las Vegas from June 4th-7th.  As our premier user conference, HP Discover attracts thousands of passionate experts from all around the world, all sharing their experiences on how they always perform better.  And as you'd expect, the event hotel is filling up fast....blah, blah, blahgo to hp.com/go/discover and click Register Now.  A Google search shows the conference is legit, however, the person(s) making this call are not!  By using the 91 before their phone #, if I were to call this # back, the "caller" would then be able to access my phone line to make unapproved, long-distance calls.  This is a scam that is commonly used in prisons.  DO NOT CALL BACK THIS #, WHATEVER YOU DO!

This is still happening in May 2012. Just received a call from this number at 12:30 p.m. (MDT). A woman asked for the mailbox of (my first and last name). I said this is she, and then the female said, 'oh', like she was surprised that I acknowledged. Then the line went bad, as described in other comments. Like they hit a static button as soon as you acknowledge the call. I'm sure they're up to no good.

Received two calls on my work number in a span of about 30 minutes from (416) 999-4930. Same experience as many other folks here - Silence on the other side and got the same message when I dialed back - the number not being in service. I wonder what this could be and if it is just a scam to identify/confirm names attached to phone numbers which can be used later for telemarketing. But does sound quite fishy and the fact that they have taken care to cover their tracks with that phoney message, seems there is something brewing.

Just received a call here in New Jersey. Same thing, called me by name then she promised to call back another time. I was willing to discuss what ever about who ever because I have friends in the same area code. The caller disappeared but phone did not disconnect. Surprised to see the number with such a long negative history. I was care to not pay for reverse trace thinking the call just might be a tracing service. Isn't there a law against this?

Received calls from (416) 999-4930 a couple of times. First time caller hung up. He tried again in the evening and asked if it was me (by name) and when I replied yes this is he...the caller hung up. I called back but the number was continuously busy! The quality of the call was not bad.Sounds like a scam to me.
