It is very possible that it is NSD calling to spot check that you received your telephone directory. My husband does deliveries for them and they will call people at random to spot check the route - to make sure that you received your phone book; that it was bagged and correctly placed not thrown in the front of the driveway. If their are any problems , the carriers have to correct them before they get paid.You will not get an invoice and should not be charged for a phone book 1 per household. Some times with businesses they may need a special order or delivery of extra books.

Received one of these calls this morning (Mar 26/08). Picked up the phone and the caller (lady) said she was from Yellow Pages and just checking to ensure i had received my Yellow Pages phone book. I told her i had, but after hanging up felt that this was an odd phone call!!!

I have had my phone number for about 8 years but the telemarketing/scam calls are getting worse this past year -- at a rate of about 5 to 10 per week (I don't answer them). I did have my number published publicly at some point several years ago and once you get on a list, you can't get yourself off of it. I'm changing my number as soon as I can.
