You have to know it when it's too good to be true; so that's why i'm searching out the the names and numbers i've been given. Some of the comments above are similar to what I've been dealing with the past 2 days. We've submitted a cash offer contract (575k home) and we've been waiting for the 5000 earnest money check to arrive to title. We asked them to wire it but he said he couldn't and will overnight check today. They sent over letter of proof of funds which had an account balance of at least $3m. Property is site unseen, making a 575k cash offer... only communication via email. Is this too good to be true?

Guess what? This Jackson character and his "Buyer Partner:, Iwao, have trid me in Seattle too.Same story: send him copies of listings and picks one out in minutes, and offers buyfull price-----well, youknow the rest Jackson's checks are like a three dollar bill. Beware!!I am a Realtor, too, you've guessed.

Just came across this thread. A few years ago (March/April 2010) I received a similar email from a "Wu Gregoery" wanting to buy a $100,000,000 condo from me sight unseen. It sounded fishy from the start but I told them (standard procedure) they'd have to send a contract deposit for $10,000 (10% of the purchase price) to lock in the property. After some back and forth emails, they soon sent me a (fake) check from AXA Insurance (CANADA) for $96,000! "Mr. Green Sound" was the alleged account manager. The explanation for the BIG $86,000 difference was (and here's the best part) the that they wanted me to purchase for them:"Chinese home style furniture, Chinese style home entertainment, Chinese home decoration and Chinese kitchen appliance in Japan that I will be bringing to this property I love my tradition and I want my home to look like little China Mansion."Cracks me up every time I re-read the emails!

Glad I googled the phone number. It just didn't sit well and the name attached was Otake Iwao and why would he have to tell me he is of Japanese origin!! Usually if it flares my nostrils something really stinks..Thankfuly my business is doing great . I sure don't need to go on wild goose chase.

Same story..same ol' Mr Jackson. Only this time the "buyer's" name is Otake "something or other". Trying to buy a $550k Soth Carolina property site unseen. My understanding is that the attempt is to eventually have the "mark" mail back the difference in one of his overwritten checks. Don't waste your time. Just report to www.IC3.gov.
