I received the same...what a terrible let down to know it was not for real! It must be heartbreaking for folks in dire straits!I called the number and they put me on hold for several minutes then "Robert" came on the line and told me to cash the check and they would send me further instructions including the name and address for the "Tax Agent". I asked for the name and address of the tax agent BEFORE i cashed the check and he said abruptly "just tear up the check!" and hung up on me.

AMAZING!! Thanks everyone! Same here with a twist.  Didn't believe it but thought I did nothing wrong so why not deposit the thing.  Figured if it was bad i would be told and that would be that. The teller took the check...i asked when could i draw on the funds...the teller told me now....stunned....i asked no questions and drew! Walking out the bank with $4975.00!  The closer i got to the door the more i thought 'im not sending them anything' the more i thought that, the more my heart raced! I stopped 10feet from the door..stared at my car through the door, in the lot....finally, realized this is impossible and spoke to a representative just to be sure.  A police report and 3 days later the bank sent me $50 bucks for the honesty.  Yeah, i know, but im sure i would have paid some how.

Well I didn't recieve a call but I did recieve the check, and its just like the comment above.  The number in my letter is 1-(416) 838-1701  The address on my letter is 1077 Golden View Street, Chatham, Ontario K1P-5R7.  I think the same, must be a scam.  I'm just wondering how it works.

Received Winning Final Notification that we won a lottery in Canada. They included a check for over $4,000.00 and wanted us to deposit it and then western union or Money gram over $2,000.00 to a tax agent. This is obviously a scam so don't call the number, while your money is going Western Union their check will be bouncing.
