Anella,

Having called Iristel I was told that they have sold the line to a reseller and that reseller has in turn issued it to their customer.  That being the case why blame an employee of Iristel?  Before people start making threats they should get their facts straight.

Has anyone called their phone company and had them trace the line to see where the call originated from?  In other words, they should check their system and not just the caller id - if you call Iristel, as I did, with the date and time of the call and give them your number they can run a trace and can give you proof that the call was not on their 'lines'.

Having done some research, this is a case of ANI Manipulation - just because this is the number on your call display does not mean that this is the number from which the person is calling.  VoIP users have the ability to change the outbound calling line id - I once got a call from 212-000-0000.  This number clearly does not exist but someone logged in and changed it, I also got a call from Lil Wayne the other day, I doubt it was really him that was calling.

Even if Iristel cancelled the service to this number to their reseller - nothing would change - as the person is not actually calling from it.

The era of cut and dry caller id has left us.

Unfortunately the only solution would be to call annoying numbers that call you and tell them to cease, if they do not then call your phone company and have them block the line - but sooner or later they will catch on and just change the number from which they are calling.

They just called me too.  I get a lot of this type of thing, but this is a new number for me.   I often wonder if my VOIP line makes me a target somehow for these callers.
I rarely include my real phone number with any type of forms anymore, and simply do not answer phone callers that I do not recognize.  Same policy with unexpected knocks on the door after falling for a 'electricity contract scam' by the name of 'Universal Power', that I am still under contract with.

Called on Thanksgiving 2009. Inquired about the service I tried to set up with Bell TV. Wanted to discuss my credit card information.
Asian accent.
it goes alot deeper than you think folks. Bell service men/women show up twice when you call. One is probably legit and the other a fake.
I would say we have a repairman tech and a call centre rep in on the scam. Careful folks, this one could bite you.

phone rings and goes to answering machine, but no one leaves a message. If picked up after two rings, no one responses.

This # have call me numberous times, they would hang up or when I call back the mailbox is full. As I read your postings, they finally got a hold of me. Saying the same thing being with BELL, and asking if I had BELL, ahhh duhhh would you not know that. So I just decide to play along and fool them and see what they say, 1st thing first they dont have their facts straights, telling me different things @ different prices, but I played dumb thinking that I didnt catch what they said. 2nd thing is they are not using their termology properly. 3rd thing is they had my old address from 3yrs old. So once I again played along, tellin them that I still live there. I made them believe that I would be more interested in their packages.Afterthat,  I told them to hold on, I had a next call but I actually put them on mute to see how long they would hold, they actually hold for 2mins( that long, LOL). They hang up. and call me back after 10 mins. Once again I played dumb and said "oh something happend, you guys hang up on me" LOL. They transfer  me to a "supervisior" to approved for a package, while they put me on hold, I put it on mute again LOL, so they thought THEY disconnected me. LOL. And they call again after 30 mins(8:45pm), And I sounded like a child telling them "my parents" step out to the store. They say they will call back @ later time. They REALLY want me to buy their packages but dont worry I will catch them and report them to the police. They ppl who post before me, thanks for the head up. And try to catch them too.Caller ID: (416) 800-2094Caller: BELL
