just someone uses telephone card to call you

They called again and my mom picked up, luckily I was home and told her to hang up and I finally said mom hang up it's a scam.

The lady said my parents name and then said I'm calling on behalf of comcast.  We hung up then.

Right after that another number came up as +1 800-860-0412.  On the caller id it says 800 number.

This is getting agitating, because I've been getting a lot of these calls.

Do they keep notes on who sounded like they answered last time?
Why hang up without saying anything?
What a waste of time.
What is their motivation?
Are they somehow making money?
Do they get the occasional dummy who gives them money?
Or are they insane?
I don't understand.

This number has called me numerous times at work. Shows up on my caller id as a Toronto, ON number.

I received a call from the Duct Cleaning company. A man with a south asian accent is always the one who calls. recently he has started calling from the number (647) 478-3163
