These telemarketers are costing me time and money. Any suggestions as to how to discourage them?

A few minutes ago, I answered a call from this number but hung up when I heard a recorded message about the national economic crisis.

got this call yesterday .. didnt pick up.. left a voice mail saying debt n stuff deleted right after!

I got a call from this number on my cell. Didnt answer. I never answer calls from numbers I dont know...I usually google those unknown numbers.
Wonder how and why these crisis people are calling our cells.

I found out who these people are. I chose option 1, which only prompted me to leave a message. I faked interest, said I have $30 000 in debt. Next day I got a call, and the guy was happy to tell me all about their company.
