Got the same telemarketing call on my cell that I do not give out unless necessary (to doctors offices etc.) Reported it to the government do not call registry site: https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/index-eng

Got same "due to a national economic crisis..." on both home and cell phones. Definitely a spam. I reported it to Email: info @ antifraudcentre.ca
Please if significant part of those who got a spam will report, authorities will do something! This caller is annoying and behaived as illegal criminal. No one picked a return call !

1. register all your numbers on Canada Do Not Call list, for what it's worth (NOT MUCH: 100000+ complaints, 197 investigations, $75000 fines imposed, $250 collected)2. spread the word3. keep an eye on ioptout.ca (Michael Geist's list to force the currently exempted spammers - POLITICIANS, CHARITIES, NEWSPAPERS!!! - to cease & desist, should be up & running again in Jan 2012.
