While the Memory Project is indeed a legitimate project that is gathering stories and artifacts from veterans, I am not so sure about the validity of these calls asking for $100 donations. I have also visited the website, and see that it is supported by government departments, museums, and other organizations. Nowhere on the site does it mention soliciting donations from the public. I could not find any information whatsoever that would direct me to where I could send a donation. You would think that IF they wanted donations, it would certainly say so on their website, and would have a secure donation application, and/or an address where donations could be sent.

They called me again, this time I answered. They had obviously not paid any attention to my earlier voice mail, since I was still on their list. I asked the guy to get me off their phone list, and he wanted to know for how long, 6 months, a year? I said I wanted off the list forever, but he said 3 years was maximum - WTH? Hopefully I am off now, and no more phone calls.

Yes, we are sure you do. Any scammer can monitor this page and input an answer to give the appearance of credibility. As the daughter of a war amp I will NOT be donating to you or any other 'organization' that uses the telephone, mail or email. Any donations I make will be made in person or in a manner to ensure the money is reached the proper charity. I would be absolutely horrified to learn that my money was taken by scammers in the name of our veterans. There are good groups out there that do help veterens and especially their children. It doesn't take a lot to check out the true charities and make donations appropriately.

It's a legitimate charity folks.I do not say that to encourage you to donate.Nor do I expect the calls to be less annoying to those who don't like to be solicited at home.Just to inform people that the charity is the "Memory Project".Which a a project to explore and document the experiences of veterans who served in the Canadian military. As the son of two WWII veterans,,I have donated to this cause.I got a tax deduction as a result of the receipt they sent me.That leaves me to conclude that it may be annoying to receive these calls, but that the charity is NOT A SCAM. And,for what it's worth,I believe that ALL charities are exempt from DNC legislation when they are trying to raise funds. But that's just me.My family history leaves me with a soft spot for veterans of all the branches of the Canadian military. As annoying as these calls can be,we owe them respect.Even when we can't afford to donate.

Unless you ask to be taken off the list forever, all call centers will only take you off for 3 months.- A telemarketer myself
