I used to work as a telephone interviewer and wanted to give some info for everyone.
If it is Research House calling. It is a market research company. While you may ask them to remove you from their list it can take a while for them to implement it into their whole system for other studies. Also, if they are calling on behalf of your bank or other institution you have dealt with it is always possible they could call you again. If they are calling on behalf of your bank or someone you've dealt business with I'm pretty sure you can call these banks or businesses and asked not to be called for research studies.
Also, there are a few exceptions to the National Do Not Call. See here for more info: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/INFO_SHT/t1030.htm
The main reason you may be getting multiple calls is if they are using an auto-dialer. The auto-dialer will cycle through numbers and automatically filters out Not In Service and busy numbers (for efficiency reasons). This is also sometimes while you'll get a moment of silence before someone says anything. The auto-dialer will forward an answered call to the first available person in the call center.

the national do not call list is for telemarketers, the exceptions to it are companies you have an existing relationship with, newsapers, and charitable organiations. Companies doing surveys don't fall under this program because they are conducting research, not trying to sell you something. as for their internal do not call list, it depends on the company doing the research and who has hired them to do the research. Policy can be different from company to company. Some comanies put you on do not call as soon as you tell them, but less reputable ones will just hang up and let your number stay in their database and will keep calling. You can try telling them that you work in market research, cause that usually excludes people from taking part in a survey. If they are really annoying try to escalate the call by asking for their full name and to speak with a supervisor. something else to remember is that in general the people calling you and the company they work for do not create the calling list, it is usually provided to them by their client. p.s. these guys have started calling my house as well.

TIP : IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE CALLED BY THEM AGAIN, SIMPLY TELL THE INTERVIEWER TO BLACKLIST YOU FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS :
- You are a market research pro - You have worked at any of the following industries : Market research, marketing company, advertising agency, The media (TV. Radio. Newspaper), Advertising/Marketing department of any company - These are AUTOMATIC BLACKLISTED. If you tell them you work for any of the above, you are effectively telling them that you know how things work in consumer market, ergo making yourself ***COMPLETELY WORTHLESS TO THEM.*** They will not call you again with the sole exception of if your number was sold to them under a duplicate database.
TIP : If you find that you are being constantly harassed, use extension 362 to speak with a supervisor. Ask for Georgia as she is head supervisor.
By no means should you ever attempt to "fend off" a survey caller with rudeness, cussing, or any attitude. All it takes for them to make the computer call you is one button. And some of them WILL put you back at the top of the to-call list just because you were an a**.
