They just called here, did not get to the phone in time so I called them back,it was a recording "we are presently experiencing technical difficulties, please call back in 48 hours" One of these days I will catch one of these b*****ds, I cant wait!Dave

I just received a call from these guys I told them I was constable David Petters and was with the Red Deer RCMP they asked me for a 3000 dollar donation I said I didn't have that kind of money than they got rude so I told them I was going to trace the number and start a investigation on them than they started being polite and hung up on me lol I'm glad I googled this number the first time they called so I could mess with them lol.

Thank to all who posted. They have phones here repeatedly but I do not answer unknown numbers. Now that I DO know, I really will never answer.

Too funny...I do not know what made me google this number...but I did...and good to know about it sooner...and I did not answer it as well.

We received the 2nd call from (403) 770-0543 today, the 1st one left no message on the answering machine. The gentleman said he was calling from the Canadian Police Association, asking to speak to my husband by name, regarding the threat to young children from pedophiles online, in the community, and bullying issues. He said the police & the school boards were putting on this program Canada-wide and were looking now at the Grande Prairie area. He said that they, combined, could not afford to fund this program and were looking to the people in the community to assist with the costs. He asked for a donation of $35/child. He sounded quite official and I asked if I could call him back after discussing this with my husband. He replied to save me costs of the long-distance charges he would call me back tomorrow night. Calling back the number, I received a recorded message "Thank-you for calling the information line for the CPA." When he calls back tomorrow night, after I call the local police to check this out during the day, I will tell him that I will take my donation to the local police station as I am sure that they will be aware of any fund-raising that they are conducting going on here." That should take care of it.

I would not send a cheque or give a credit card number. It would be a very wise thing to offer to take the money to the local police station to send it in for you. I am sure that the local police would advise you if this is truly them calling for money or if the Canadian Police Association asks for money from the people to fund these things. It is very possible that this is not a legitimate call and the police will thank you for bringing this to their attention.
