The one time I respond to a survey (I'm in Winnipeg) and it turns out to be scammers! (From what others are saying.) The info on this site is useful; now I know I'll probably get a follow-up call. I only answered the phone because I was waiting for a long-distance business call and that showed up on the screen - it wasn't till I hung up that I saw the number didn't show up on my phone, just "long distance." But thought I'd finally be nice to a survey worker (it's not a fun job; I've done it) and only realized something was up when it was too late: she'd said she was taking my number off the list immediately and she'd never call me for another survey, but then said I might win a prize. I started to ask her how the heck they'd contact me if I "won," since she said she's just said she was removing my number from their records right now, and she ended the call abruptly.

SPT Research -- or whoever they are -- called me several times between yesterday and today. They're aggressive and won't take NO for an answer. They'll hang up and call you right back. I'm annoyed and want to know how to stop these people. Apparently, when it comes to telemarketers, the CRTC's responsibilities end at our borders.

Got a call from that number requesting my information about home and work. Phoned back the next day for my address to give me prize delivered to my door. How should I report?

On checking further, I found this 2010 decision by the CRTC against a company (Breathe E-Z Homes Ltd.) who used SPT to do surveys just like this (http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2010/2010-572.htm). They got people to agree (or not disagree) to a followup if they won a prize, but they sold that phone list to a company who then used it to target consumers (thus telemarketing, even to people on the DNC). They were fined the ridiculously low sum of $2,000, and either they or another company must have decided it's worth that little bit to try it again. Just got the same call over two nights. Before giving any info I asked for their number and Clarice said I was entered into a draw on september 17 for $500 for any store!!!!  They also said I won either a trip for two or a Slapchop. I said I would take the slapchop and she said that's great ... Its what most people take!!!!  Anyways I got their number and she said her company was Meditech group which was weird cuz the survey yesterday was about recycling.  Anyways I have no intention of calling back but thought I would still report it
