Oops. i meant "prize"

they called asking if we recycle. then they went asking for the man or woman of the house was home. I said that she wasn't so he asked for the man of the house. I said there isn't one. he apologized then asked if I was the daughter. I answered yes and he continued to say "oh the beautiful daughter. well I'll call later when they're available honey"creeped me right out and won't be answering their calls again.

SPT Research -- or whoever they are -- called me several times between yesterday and today. They're aggressive and won't take NO for an answer. They'll hang up and call you right back. I'm annoyed and want to know how to stop these people. Apparently, when it comes to telemarketers, the CRTC's responsibilities end at our borders.

Came in as "unknown name/unknown number" (I googled to find this).  Yep, SPT from Manilla, couldn't tell me what SPT stands for, said the website was SPT.com (redirects to an unrelated insurance site), didn't speak English beyond his script, got confused and hung up.  Whatever.  They've learned that the Do No Call list doesn't apply to surveys, so they're claiming to do one to get their foot in the door, so to speak.

I just got the same phone call and was totally caught off guard. I was asked the same type of questions pertaining to whether I recycle, what line of work I was in,whether it was fulltime or part time, how long I have lived at my residence and what my first name was. I asked where the woman on the other end of the phone was from and she said that she was from the Philipines. I asked what her number was and the name of the company.She said that it was (403) 648-2643 and that she was calling on behalf of a local Hmailton Independent Consumer Trends Survey. She said that they would be calling back tomorrow for my address and a chance to win a prize. I told her not to bother and not call again once I finally caught on to this skam. I called my local phone provider and they told me that if I were to receive the call again to press *57 on my phone and immediatley call the police so that this number could be traced. I called the (403) 648-2643 number back and a woman answered saying she was from the Philipines but that she had a daughter in Australia. Ironically,my credit cards had been recently compromised and there was a charge on one of them for a plane ticket to Sidney, Australia. I have called the police and the Canadian  Anti-Fraud Centre with reference to this situation.
