Just got a call from "Unknown" (236) 376-7767 at 9:30 pm. They asked for me by first and last name on my answer machine, then hung up. I recently applied for a car loan on line through my bank. Maybe they got a hold of my info?

I also am getting phone calls constantly from this number. When it comes up on my caller id, it says it is calling from Virginia, of course I googled the area code and this is what I found: 236 VA -5 Virginia (region unknown) / Unassigned? @ http://www.bennetyee.org/ucsd-pages/area.html. When I call the number back, I get an error message saying the number is incorrect and please try my call again.

got a call from (236) 376-7767 person had a middle eastern accent just like the one who called me from the so call ACS company in New York 347-788-3000 sounds like their trying to pull another scam. except this number the 236 area code read on my caller ID as from Virginia. Who the----is this person and I wish they would leave me alone Be careful what you do online like payday loan applications etc. I think that is where this person is getting your personal information to scam you.

these "individuals" call from several different numbers for several different states. The say you owe a payday loan and they will have you arrested unless you pay. There is nothing they can do to you as they are scam artists calling from india. They use names just a jack dawson and many other english sounding names. There is no way to take your number off of their list as they are an illegal company. I had to change my phone number and bank account as they had both of those. They also have  my full ssn number and phone numbers to all of my relatives. They used to scare me,but ,now when they call me at work I screw with them and tell them to come arrest me. Don't believe anything they tell you.They just want you to moneygram money to them on a debt you don't owe.

Who is it?

This number just called my cell phone.  When I answered, it rang and then someone with a Middle East accent answered telling me my auto loan had been approved.  I told him I did not apply for a loan and he insisted that I had over the internet.  I told him I did not and to please take me off the call list.  I'm thinking it's a fishing expedidtion to get some personal information out of me.  I will be calling the credit bureaus, however, to make sure that there has not been an attempt to steal my identity.
