Wake me up

Just got a phone call, same as others, from "Mario" at (905) 695-9047 at 8:30 on a Saturday morning.  He stated that we'd won a big prize coupon from a ballot we filled out on March 17th.  Needless to say, same as others commenting on this site, we never filled out anything.  When I asked for further information he was vague so I asked for his phone number and said I was busy but maybe would call him back.  After checking with this site and verifying others had received similiar calls (thanks) I'll be more careful about picking up the phone for "private callers" first thing in the morning !

Got a call that our name was picked from a contest ballot. Unfortunately for them the phone bill is still in my late father-in-law's name and they quoted his first initial and last name (isn't that swell? He finally wins a prize 8 years after he departed the neighbourhood. Must be some kind of presentation where they want to sell you a time share or something. If I were to claim my prize (from a list of 4 of which one was a Toshiba TV) I would be obligated to ensure a presentation in 3 segments lasting not longer than 90 minutes (so they say..)including - get this - a refreshment segment upon arrival.

Marketing bull#$@( if I ever smelled it. Like I don`t have better things to do.

Be forwarned.

Will update if they pursue further after I don`t arrive....lol

I just received a phone call from a Sam Albert who stated that I had filled out a ballot and won one of 5 prizes (cash, laptop, furniture) at Walmart...first of all I NEVER fill out ballots.  Sam stated that I would have to sit through a presentation and would be served light refreshments.  WhenI told him that my husband was unavailable he insisted that he need to be present...why?  if I had won the prize.

This sounds like a marketing scheme that I want no part of.

They also called me, some guy with an Indian or Pakistani accent whose name was "Max Richards" or something like that.  Anyway, he started off by saying I'd filled out a ballot in a mall on March 17th.  I never fill out these things fearing that I'll get lame callers like this, so I knew he was lying off the bat, but I thought I'd play along and waste his time.  "Max" said I had won one of 5 fabulous prizes, and that I needed to get a confirmation code from his manager, then show up for a 90 minute presentation in Woodbridge, ON.  The company name was Ewart, or something like that.  When I gave them a fake name, they didn't call me on it, so I knew they just got my number out of the phone book.  After I didn't show up to their bogus "Prize Ceremony" they called me back.  When they asked for Thomas, my wife told them there was no one here by that name. (Not my real name!)  A few days later when they called back, I told them that I googled (905) 695-9047 and that it was for some timeshare sales scam and that they should not call back.  "Max" asked if my wife and I were insane, and called my wife a b**ch.  He called back 5 times in a row before giving up.  I hope they get punished to the fullest extent of the law.
