All my phone numbers are on the national do not call list and these guys called me. Don't know who they are, or what their angle is, just know they called.  They told me my number won $2500 in travel dollars and to press 1 to claim my prize.  I just waited and the system hung up within 20 seconds.  Smells like a scam or just an incentive to buy something from some company.  Still, I'm on the do not call list and I did report the number to the CRTC.  Since signing up on the DNC list I only get about 4 or 5 unsolicited calls a year. I report every single unsolicited call I get.

Just got a call from this number... But I missed it.

It's a call from a recording of a man with a british accent saying "Our records indicate that you are the winner of a prize (some amount of money here), press 1 to collect.."  I hung up at that point.99% scam.

Missed a call from that number on Feb 16 at 4:43 p.m. EST. Is anyone trying to stop these people?

just got call from this number - ignored it

I also received a call yesterday.

I thought it might be a collection agency.

It played a "The number you dialed is not in service message" twice, but very briefly right before it disconnected, there was a "I'm sorry the person.." clip that was cut off.  I can only assume that it would have ended in "at this extension is not available."

Part of my profession gives me access to an autodialer, and I rang it back at least 50 times in the next 15 minutes, all with the same result.

Whoever is making the calls has the ability to mask their CID.  It's likely a collector of some sort.  Anyways, just thought I'd post alongside everyone else.
