He told me my "Windows" is reporting problems and they need to fix the problem.  I told him he has no idea what I have; that I have a MAC; he hung up.

Michael S.

I received one of many calls in the last 2 months, they are VERY persistent, from a Michael from Windows.  Michael, who's Indian or Pakistani accent is so heavy I barely understand him, tells me that Microsoft has subcontracted tech service to Windows, I was always of the understanding that Windows was an Operating System not a company division, further that my telling me the reason for his call is to alert me and show me on my computer that the computer is sending in error messages.  I asked what are the error messages? He says that he doesn't know but, if I log on to my computer, follow his instructions, he can show me. I asked, How do I know you are from Windows? He then says, " I can transfer you to a Microsoft Certified Technician."  I then said, "If you have my phone number you also have my address therefore, you should send me written notification via USPS with your name, the reason for the contact, a phone number where, I can call YOU."  He then hung-up.  Five minutes later I get two more calls from (807) 658-7904, when I answer, there is silence on the other end.  Obviously, this is one of the many scams we now must endure as a result of Microsoft being greedy. Too bad when you have a product that finally works they can not just add separate OS's for various computer products and cell phones.  Ah... Ya gotta love planned obsolescence!

MS

A man named John has called from (807) 658-7904 saying he wants to fix my IP address on Microsoft

They called today telling me I had too many errors in Microsoft, and they needed to fix the problem.  Had I noticed slower activity?  Then they had me push the 'windows' key on my keypad, and the letter "R".  That brought up a small window that he had me type 'eventvwr'.  That showed my errors.  It was actually interesting, and quite informative.  Then he had me type in www.supremofree.com, but my computer blocked that so he told me to type www.showmypc.com.  That got me worried.  Then I started questioning him on his name (Henry Paul, ID# 18001, tel # 1-2144477709.  I told him if he wanted to fix anything he'd have to show up in person, with name tag in hand.  He then got another Indian speaking guy on the line, and I told him the same thing.  We then parted company by hanging up the phone.  :)  Hope this helps other's.
