Apparently, the DO NOT CALL list applies only to Canadian companies, organizations, telemarketers etc.If the call originates in the US, Canada and Canadians have no recourse. PITY EH!

On August 17 at 10:28 A.M. (MST) I got a call from (778) 276-7216. A recording of a woman's voice said that Card Member Services was making their final courtesy call before they close the file on my account. I was told that they sent me several notices before. The recording said I should take advantage of lowering my rates down to as low as 6%. The only qualifications are that I have
over $1,000 charged to my cards and that one is in good standing.Then I was told to press 1 to reach a credit card agent. Since I was out, the answering machine took the call. No card name or
number was mentioned, neither was my name referred to by the phone robot.

Same info as notes posted, but I also pressed one to talk to someone. I told them i'm on a DO NOT CALL list and wanted to know if they were calling from the U.S. or Canada (I'm in Canada).  He laughed at me. Refused to answer the question. Asked if I wanted to talk to someone about the debt stuff - they're called Consuemr Debt Advocate, according to the message.  When I said NO, and again said I want to know where they're calling from, he hung up on me. nice.

these same people have been calling my elderly parents who also are on DO NOT CALL list, and my dad got quite upset and told them to stop calling. I doubt it will stop.

I'd like to track this down and shut these guys down. at a minimum, get them to stop harrassing my family.

Suspect a telemarketer.
