This No. is calling the B.C. area this morning purporting to be from Royal bank attempting to sell a program agst identity theft as well as monitoring your credit reports. He was asking for an address to send the application form and maybe a creditcard No. in order to do the monthly debit after the first 3 month-trial. I hung up on him & inform RBC

It is RBC or some company working for RBC offering some service. I was in at work, so did not finish the conversation.

I just got a call from this number and the woman (with the weird infomercial voice) claimed to be calling on behalf of RBC. I immediately hung up the phone since I found her tone to be fishy and called the bank to report it. RBC confirmed to me that this was in fact a fraudulant call. DO NOT SHARE YOUR INFORMATION!

I got a call from this number & it seemed a bit fishy to me. When she asked for me by name she spoke with a thick accent, but then when she went into the script of the deal, she didn't have an accent and it seemed like a recording. I even uninterrupted a couple times & asked where she was calling from & she responded "Barrie" so then I asked what the weather was like there today & the response was "cold" but didn't sound the same as the one from the script. She did say that she was calling on behalf of RBC.

HANG UP AND CALL RBC AND REPORT! I spoke with Royal Bank last night after getting a call from Famtel BUT they said RBC on the call (I called the 705 phone number back and got a message saying they were Famtel). The woman sounded like an Infomercial and would not let me speak as she tried selling Identity Protection (like mentioned above) but once she said the $8/month would be CHARGED TO MY CREDIT CARD I hung up! I WAS a victim of ID Fraud in 2005 and the RBC caught it and cleared it up before I had a chance to notice! RBC was great! THIS Famtel is NOT RBC.I also searched for Famtel online and found 2 offices in Barrie, Ontario that is connected to a Tim Ford but the company is either new or FRADULENT because there is no other info on Famtel. Famtel IS also connected to America and the UK (through LinkedIn website). Lots of people working for a company that hasn't any info on it....hmmm.... RBC will take your information if you get a call from these people. They are changing my credit card numbers and keeping an eye out on my account in case someone tries to hack into my money.CALL RBC and report!!!!!!!!!!

Im also with RBC..there number is on the back of the RBC debit card. I call that number whenever I want, I have call display but it never says "RBC" or w/e when they call me.

It seems you people have no clue to the ground reality. These are REAL people calling FROM Canada on behalf of RBC. The game is in numbers. If you make calls to thousands of people and get a few people to sign up for it its a win-win (for the call centre and RBC, not the individual...in most cases). So the banks know of it but ignore the complaints as they are few compared to their gain. And yeah these people are immigrants (mostly with English as not their first language) hence the scripted and shady approach.I know cause been there, seen that, done that!Feel free to diagree to my 2c.Cheers
