screwed

yes you have been screwed, assuming you let them onto your computer. these people call regularly to try to steel your personal information off of your computer so that they can steel your identity or and your money. It is just a coincidence that you had just downloaded windows updates. although there is a chance that they have spyware on your computer already. This is not likely though. But now they are on your computer - if you had let them by going to a particular website. Try to set your system restore to an earlier date and run an antivirus and antispyware with the latest definitions. Change your bank accounts etc and beware of mortgage fraud. Inform your bank of what happened. Do whatever is needed in regards to any personal information you keep on line ie bank passwords and account numbers etc. Consider to get a new computer.

Ron

I just received a call from Raymond with a call back number of (647) 288-1790. They went through an "offline" check of my computer and then wanted me to go online to their site. All free, but there would be an activation fee. 6, 12 or 18 months. Never did find out how much that was. He hung up when I told him I was happy with my errors and didn't want to change them.
This guy called out of the blue, suggesting they were supporting Vista & Windows 7.

The man called me. He has been trying desperately to reach me it seems. He called on Thursday and I was on the phone. He asked to call back in 5-minutes. I told him fine. I wasn't around in 5-minutes but later the guy started calling and he called all weekend, including Sunday, all day. I watched the phone number on the display and was a little freaked out by how much he was calling. Finally got me today, (Monday). He was shouting at me. Refused to hang up when I ordered him to get off my phone. I asked  him what his name was. He said, "I am not answering personal questions at this time!" Asked him where he was calling from. He shouted, "I am calling for  Microsoft! We have to get into your computer to fix the problems!"I told him that I have no problems. He ignored what I said. "We have to get in and fix the problems in your computer!" I told him that I heard about this scam and that I will be calling the police right after he hangs up.He shouts, "I'm not hanging up! I'm not going anywhere!"I tell him, "Fine!. Then you sit right there, like my little b***h and when you finally get sick of that, hand up and I will have your call traced so that I can give the information to the police."I put him on hold. Went back to my other call, and finally he hung up, but only to call back again, ringing the phone while I was on the other call. What a freak!

Angry

These fools keep calling me.  I have used the response: "I don't have a computer"; "I don't speak English"; "I'm on the Do Not Call List" and nothing works.    I have kept them on the phone discussing the weather or politics or life in general.  They all seem to have very "western names" that don't really match their accents so I usually ask them if it is a family name.  I ask them if they have children or a spouse and if they like their job...I try to waste as much of thier time as possible because I know it is a scam...the least I can do is run up thier phone bill.  I think I may try to just sing them a song next time...that should get them to hang up for sure!

I have reported them several times to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission but it doesn't seem to help.

"Falon" (employee number 111113) actually called me back to yell at me after I hung up on her and refused to let me speak to her supervisor.  I hung up on her again after a rather enrageged version of my first conversation with her.

I hope karma takes care of them.  Times must be tough in "Salt Lake City" if the only "job" that these people can get is fraudulant telemarketing (aka harassment).
