This time, the number is used by an "independent" group to see if you are eligible for a government energy-saving program (if you spend a certain amount per year on heating). They offer to send a technician to evaluate your current system and make recommendations. Of course, you are not obligated to buy anything. After 15 minutes of discussion, I told the women that we are not interested. She remained polite. When I tried to call back at this number, it said the number is no longer in service. I received 1 call today from (613) 737-2889.I called back and the # is not in service. How can this be? about visa Same thing here. CRTC should make call display - phone AND name - mandatory for all, including cell phones. Those people hide behind untraceable cell phones. Just criminal. I just got a call from (613) 737-2889. I didn't answer. Thanks for the advice about this phone number. I won't call back. I am really fed up with this energy solicitation, told many times that I was renting to get rid of them, try to get my number removed, enough added to my blocked number list. Yep same thing, Propose to send technician for an evaluation...
When I call back I got a message saying this number is not available
I called Bell canada and they told me that could be a number use by telemarketing and that is why I can call back
She told me to file a complain to the CRTC anyway (they can track the number)
Apparently it is true (see this new about it)
So go ahead and file a complain....I just did ...
Got a call in french, a woman asked questions about the right time to send a technician for an evaluation about solar energy for an Hydro Quebec program. I searched for the number and never could call back. So fraud... 3 days in a row...getting called from supposibly a solar energy company call is in french...Every time I say I am NOT interested and that I am on the CRTC exception list and should'nt be bothered by anyone selling stuff like this
Yesterday I asked if they knew about CRTC and they hung up....Today I really gor fed up (Was napping) told them Gees 3rd day in a row that you are calling here, i am on exception list and they hung up...really harassing...
This number calls here regarding income tax. Seems these people are quite versatile in the businesses they chose to represent. The man at the end of the line seems quite convincing
Same thing happened to me today. No matter how many times I asked for a website address so I could check it out for myself, she wouldn't give me one. I eventually hung up. same thing for energy rebate.. sounds like scam.. asking too many questions. I told them i wanted to check their website and they hung up. How is it not possible to track and destroy these people with todays technology... thank you for your information. I also got calls form this phone number. When I don't know the caller, I don't answer. They called stating they were from microsoft and that my computer could not receive messages. Microsoft does not make house calls. scam very aggressive - said the company she worked for was getting notifications about virus on my computer. Very irritating! Second call at 9am, in two days. Computer scammers. yada yada yada - we found a virus on your computer. Kept him on the line for 30min while I made dinner - i strung him along for as long as I could. He finally told me to F-off so I asked hime to spell it pretending to type it in, but stalled him by spelling it wrong. He started yelling at me about wasting his time - so i offered to wire him some money if he gave me a bank account and transit number. The idiot called his boss over to verify my intent - love it! Brutal that these scammers can get local numbers. Wish there was a way to jail these PITAs. just answered the damn phone almost tripping on the desk to get it....so I could hear dead air for 5 seconds then an automatic prompt saying "Goodbye" and it hangs up.....seriously...thats what you called for, to say goodbye and hang up on my face...worst scam ever if that's what it is Here goes. "Hi I'm calling from microsoft (hahaha!) about your computer, it has been sending us error messages without your knowledge. I would like you to turn your computer on and do as I say". I asked which one 'cause I have four? He goes "the one you use the most!" ( no ip adress no nothing) I said Where are you calling from on behalf of microsoft, he says "why do you want to know that?" and I said to verify that you are not a scammer trying to get info off my computer to do whatever it is that you guys do. He screams: "What info, to do what?" I laughed and asked for his adress again, he goes "we are in New York are you going to come down here to verify that" and I said yes, sure. Hesitation then he goes St-John street... hesitation... 3271 (probably his birthdate) then he says after I give you my name are you going to turn on your computer? (because I asked him...) I said no... laughing and then he says (in a strong far east accent: Then f*** you you MUDDERFACKER! lol. I obviously know more about computers than the average victim does.
